Common questions
Do I need to pay for any of this?
No. Every feature is free. No premium tier, no paywall, no credit card. You can vote on top.gg for premium perks, but all features work without voting.
Do I need to configure AI providers?
No. Cipher automatically switches between free AI services. If one is busy, it uses the next. No API keys or accounts needed from you.
Is my server data safe?
Cipher never trains AI on your data. Message content is not permanently stored. Only command metadata and error logs are retained for debugging. The bot is open source — you can audit the code yourself.
Can I self-host Cipher?
Yes. The entire bot is open source. Clone the repo, install dependencies, set your Discord token, and run ./start.sh. Full instructions are on GitHub.
